Self Image

I've often wondered why certain people end up in certian positions within a company or in other organizations. When I posed this question to a friend, he had a very interesting anecdote. He used to date a gril who came from an affluent family. Once they went on a dinner to a fancy resturant in the upscale neighbourhood where she lived. My friend was quite nervous and felt like he did not belong there. So he dressed in formal attire and was so concious about himself the whole time that he hardly enjoyed the dinner. His girlfriend on the other hand, dressed more casual than him and yet was comfortable and sure of herself.

People often end up in certain positions simply because they believe they belong there! Ofcourse, they have to have the skills and be capable of carrying out the job. But there are many people who are equally skilled and capable but fail to view themselves in those positions.

The self confidence often comes across during the interview process as well. People who are sure about themselves are more at ease. Theydo not expect to be able to answer every question posed to them and yet exhibit a can do attitude and come across as more genuine.
